Tax One is a boutique certified public accountant firm based in Anchorage, Alaska. We were founded on a simple belief: that every Alaskan business owner and individual deserves access to a trusted, knowledgeable CPA who takes the time to understand their situation.
Rajeev Modi, CPA, launched Tax One in 2021 after more than a decade of accounting work across Alaska’s auditing and tax industry. On January 1, 2024, he made Tax One his full-time focus — building the kind of firm he always wanted to work at. Small, personal, and built around the client.

Rajeev Modi
Certified Public Accountant, President
Rajeev grew up in Kolkata, India and moved to the United States at 18. He earned his Bachelor’s in Accounting and Finance from Montana State University in Bozeman — and has gone by Raj ever since.
After graduating he worked as a bookkeeper before joining an Alaska firm specializing in government and nonprofit audits in 2014. That role took him across the state and if you ask him, Sitka is the most beautiful place in Alaska.
In 2017 Raj moved into tax preparation at a local firm, earning his CPA license while building five seasons of hands-on experience. He launched Tax One to do things on his own terms, starting with the people closest to him and growing from there.
Raj specializes in small business finance and tax strategy. He genuinely believes that smart tax planning is one of the most powerful tools a business owner has and that enthusiasm shows every time he talks about it. His goal is simple: help people understand their finances, make better decisions, and keep more of what they earn.
Outside the office you’ll find him skiing, hiking, or spending time with his wife Emily. His family is spread between India and Portland, and he’ll be the first to tell you he’s living beyond his wildest dreams.
Kelly Hase
Tax Associate
Kelly grew up in Anchorage and is proud to call it home. After graduating from West Anchorage High School in 2021 he headed to San Diego State University, earning his Bachelor’s in Accounting in spring 2025. His next milestone is his CPA license — and with Raj’s guidance, he’s on his way.
Kelly joins Tax One as a Tax Associate with a genuine enthusiasm for the work and a commitment to delivering for every client he works with.
Outside the office Kelly is about as Alaskan as it gets — fishing, hiking, camping, snowboarding, and snowmobiling are all part of the rotation. His time in San Diego added surfing and skateboarding to the mix. He’s also a lifelong sports fan with a soft spot for football, baseball, and tennis.
Kelly is excited to join the firm this winter and is eager to contribute meaningfully to its continued success.
